16 May 2011 – Every day, volunteers do amazing things while drinking really bad coffee. To help address this situation and continue the philanthropic legacy of parent company Starbucks, Seattle’s Best Coffee is giving back to non-profits with through their Brew-lanthropy Project.
Seattle’s Best Coffee began the Brew-lanthropy Project by awarding a coffee makeover to the staff and volunteers at Blackstone Bicycle Works, a nonprofit organization on the south side of Chicago. Blackstone is a beacon of hope for hundreds of neighborhood kids. The shop teaches life lessons through bike mechanics and healthy living through fun.
To find the next deserving organization, Seattle’s Best Coffee is asking its Facebook community to become Brew-lanthropists. Nominations for worthy non-profits were received through 250 word essays. Fans now are able to cast votes for their favourite organization. The Seattle’s Best Coffee team will visit the hometown of the non-profit with the most votes and bring the coffee makeover and its story to life.
