6 May 2011 – With ‘The Chance’ Nike has given young football players the opportunity to compete, get noticed and get scouted at the highest level of the game. To make this happen Nike and Arsene Wenger (Arsenal) have launched a global campaign which has the aim of spotting talented footballers and providing them a chance to join the Nike Academy, a high performance training program supported by the Premier League in England.
The Chance is an inspiring addition to Nike’s ‘Write the Future’ campaign, which builds upon iconic game moments which transform the history of football. In order to become part of The Chance players had the opportunity to customize their ‘moment of glory’ and upload this to Facebook. Within 6 months 75.000 players answered to this call.
By the organization of Nike Elite Training events in 32 cities around the world, Nike has been able to select the best 100 players. All of them were invited to a final trial in England, where they competed for one of eight international places in the Nike Academy. These lucky ones will get their chance to be a full-time member of the Nike Academy for a year, which obviously is their opportunity to write their future.
